Konstantin Zeuke
Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski
Mr Zeuke, the last winter season saw some changes at the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski. Why was that?
Konstantin Zeuke: The last winter season was an important milestone in the history of the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski, with celebrations for the Grand Hotel’s 20th anniversary taking place in the December. To mark the occasion, we decided to renovate the lobby area and the adjacent bar. The renovation work also included redesigning the buffet area in our main restaurant, the award-winning Les Saisons.
What effect has the Les Saisons restaurant had on hotel guests since it reopened?
The restaurant is located in an iconic building dating back to 1864 and is a worthy reflection of our identity as the Grand Hotel des Bains. Les Saisons offers our guests a perfect blend of contemporary style and modern luxury. The combination of decorative plasterwork and eye-catching chandeliers also lends the restaurant a dignified historic ambience.
The centrepiece of the new buffet area is the breakfast buffet bar designed by GLAESER PROJEKT. As General Manager of the Grand Hotel, were any aspects of the project particularly important to you before work began?
For our hotel guests, the breakfast buffet is a key part of getting the day off to a good start. In addition, our hotel has a reputation for splendour and tradition and is a symbol of modern luxury with first-class service. It was important to us that these qualities could also be experienced at the breakfast buffet. Furthermore, the breakfast buffet needed to be highly functional.
The new breakfast buffet has been operational since the beginning of December. How does it differ from the way it was before?
The layout and organisation within the individual workstations at the breakfast buffet have been improved. The buffet has a new, modern look that ideally complements the historic ambience of the space, bringing a new elegance to our restaurant – not only at breakfast, but also in the evening and at events such as gala dinners. A mix of convenience and contemporary design was chosen: clean lines and light-coloured materials have been used to create an open, modern atmosphere.
How satisfied are you with the work carried out by GLAESER and GLAESER PROJEKT?
Feedback from our guests has been excellent, and our kitchen team is also very satisfied with the functionality and equipment. The fact that the breakfast buffet was completed within the set time frame – with installation taking place during two months in the off-season – was an important requirement on our part. GLAESER PROJEKT and GLAESER took this into account in their plans and implemented the project to perfection.
How did the collaboration with GLAESER and GLAESER PROJEKT come about?
GLAESER is a leading Swiss company specialising in customised interior design for the hotel industry and has already worked on several hotels here in St. Moritz. It was vitally important to us to have competent partners who could take care of all aspects of the work, from comprehensive execution planning and project management (GLAESER PROJEKT) to production, assembly and customer service (GLAESER). Our needs remained front and centre throughout.
